Writing Commitments until sometime in mid-summer this year:
→ apocabigbang: 10,000 | Supernatural/Cthulhu Mythos crossover Fifty percent complete, due fifth of February.
→ au_bigbang: 15,000 | Firefly/Twilight Crossover. Yes. You read that right. Still plotting and outlining, due early April.
→ spn_j2_bigbang: 20,000 | J2 AU -or- Supernatural Casefic. In both cases, half-written already. Just gotta finish the fuckers and submit them. Due sometime in May, idk.
→ Plus the various half-written scripts, skits, and novels I've got going from last year. I may poke them with a stick over the next few months. Or, perhaps, I'll just forsake them for fandom until November and not feel the slightest bit of guilt over it. Yeah. No guilt. Whatsoever. Go me.
Also-- Will be mucking incapacities up with responses to brigits_flame original fiction prompts. Again, go me.

The TARDIS materialises not far from Paris in 1794 - one of the bloodiest years following the French Revolution of 1789. The travellers become involved with an escape chain rescuing prisoners from the guillotine and get caught up in the machinations of an English undercover spy, James Stirling - alias Lemaitre, governor of the Conciergerie Prison.
The Doctor - posing as a Regional Officer of the Provinces - is twice brought before the great tyrant, Robespierre himself, and has to talk himself out of trouble. Ian and Barbara, meanwhile, have a close encounter with a future ruler of France, Napoleon Bonaparte.
As events reach their climax, Robespierre is overthrown - shot in the jaw and dragged off to the prison - and the Doctor and his friends slip quietly away.

| the annual new year's friends cut |
[03 Jan 2010|11:21pm] |
So I made a slight cut. Basically, if you haven't posted in months, if we've been friends forever and never said a word to each other, or I feel like we have nothing in common, I cut you. So if either one of us has made any effort at all, I kept you, so I really don't think we have anything to worry about.
BUT if you feel like I made a mistake, please comment here.
Also, if you feel like you hate me so much and you just want to get rid of me, do so now, I won't complain. Promise. I just want to start out the new year all nice and clean. :)

The TARDIS arrives on board a spaceship in orbit around a planet called the Sense-Sphere. The alien Sensorites have trapped the ship's human crew, Captain Maitland, Carol and John, in a state of semi-permanent paralysis. When the Doctor investigates, the aliens steal the lock mechanism from the TARDIS, thus trapping him and his companions.
The Sensorites allow all but Maitland and Barbara down to the planet, where Ian falls ill from a sickness that has been wiping out the Sensorites. The Doctor finds a cure. His investigations into the cause of the sickness are hampered by the subversive activities of the City Administrator, but eventually he uncovers three deranged human survivors from a past expedition who have been adding deadly nightshade to the water supply.

Yuletide reveal is up, so I get to talk about it :D :D :D
I got Two stories this year, even though one alone had me rocking back and forth in glee. But both are amazingly well-written, gorgeous on an individual basis, and insta-classics.
And no, I don't think I'm exaggerating here. Both proved to be something I would read and bookmark to read again should I have happened upon them on accident. THAT is why I am thrilled with them-- especially since I've gotten all picky and snide about what I read these days.
So, without further ado, the stories:
Recreational Activities by Annwyd. Egyptian Mythology fandom, Nephthys & Seth-centric. This world will run down and run out eventually. In the end, it's left to a god of chaos and destruction to restart creation.
Arrival by ChokolatteJedi. Waiting for Godot/Dogma crossover, God-centric. Godot finaly arrives, in a form that Vladimir and Estragon might not have expected.
Go read go read go read! Once the load on the server lowers, and I can actually surf the site, I'll be assembling a more cohesive list of other contributions to this year's archive and posting them at incapacities. Cos this challenge is amazing and wonderful, and as far as I am concerned, everyone should participate at least on some level.
after the fact is the Nightmare Before Christmas fic I wrote for my recipient. Z beta'd it for me, and put up with me moaning about how horrible a writer I am for days before it was posted, then screamed in relief when I finally stopped. Just in case anyone is curious XD

| Day 1096 |
[31 Dec 2009|01:38am] |

Tonight I was sick (for the sixth day in a row, damn lingering cold) and I had to pack up my apartment. It was the first New Years Eve that I've EVER spent alone. The only year I can even remember not doing anything was a couple years ago when I was sick, but I still had my boyfriend of the time there. It was just an eerie feeling.

The TARDIS arrives in fifteenth century Mexico inside the tomb of one-time Aztec High Priest Yetaxa. The travellers become cut off from the ship when they explore the temple outside and the tomb door closes behind them. Barbara is proclaimed by the High Priest of Knowledge, Autloc, as Yetaxa's divine reincarnation. However, she incurs the enmity of the High Priest of Sacrifice, Tlotoxl, when - against the Doctor's advice - she attempts to use her new-found authority to put an end to the Aztec practice of human sacrifice.
Events reach a climax on the Day of Darkness - the time of a solar eclipse. Ian's unwilling conflict with the Aztecs' 'chosen warrior', Ixta, ends in a fight in which the latter falls to his death from the temple roof. The Doctor manages to reopen the tomb door using a wheel-and-pulley that he has carved (the Aztecs not having mastered the use of the wheel) and the travellers make good their escape.
